Leaving Town Blues  (Biber Herrmann)

Staring from my window down the avenue
The morning sky is hanging low
Trying to recall the fortune that once brought me here
And slipped away a long time ago
There’s vague schemes and shattered dreams and the way it seems
It’s time to clear the air
Got the leaving town blues
Have to get away from here

You started out working for good things to come
Once they come they’re coming on strong
Everything falls into place
Like a seed on watered ground
But you can’t judge a sudden change of weather
Nor the many ways it might appear
Got the leaving town blues
Have to get away from here

There’s a photograph on the wall
From days when it all seemed so bright and clear
There’s bittersweet pain hanging in the atmosphere
You may curse the sky till the end of time
And never find the reason why
Get up now it`s time to say goodbye

There’s a rumble down the alley way
There’s voices inside of my head
Lately I’ve been dreaming of sunny days still to come
Woke up and this place felt just like dead
I can stand a little rain and I ain’t running from no pain
But high water’s gotten way to near
Got the leaving town blues
Have to get away from here
